This very unique event wouldn’t be possible without all the hard work and dedication of our valued sponsors and exhibitors. As the primary fundraiser for the Steveston Rotary, this event supports so many amazing programs and charitable causes within our beautiful community of Steveston. We hope you’ll take every opportunity to join us in thanking each of our sponsors and exhibitors this year. They have gone out of their way to make sure our 2017 Grapes, Hops & Bites is our best festival yet!

Named for the goddess of spring bounty and the log salvage boat from CBC’s hit TV series The Beachcombers, Persephone operates an 11‐acre farm and craft micro‐brewery on BC’s Sunshine Coast. Producing some of the finest craft beers, our “farmhouse” approach integrates onsite farming of hops and honey while sourcing BC grown and malted barley. Our hop varieties include Cascade, Centenniel and Goldings with 6 acres in development.
The brewery opened in August 2013 and offers both draught and packaged beer through our tasting room as well as through licensed accounts across BC. Our head brewer, Anders McKinnon, manages the brewery, recipe development and our quality control program. His broad repertoire of beer styles and craftsmanship allows Persephone to introduce new and exciting beers on a regular basis while retaining a core focus on brewing hop-forward west coast style ales. Five of our beers have taken awards, including Anders’ Dry Irish Stout winning 1st Place for two consecutive years at the BC Beer Awards.
Our brewery and farm is in part owned by the Sunshine Coast Association for Community Living (SCACL), a non-profit organization providing services for people with developmental disabilities, a number of whom work at the farm. Our annual fundraising events include the Tough Kegger adventure race and the Sunshine Coast Craft Beer Festival, great excuses to have fun and quaff some delicious brews for a good cause.
